Vulcain is introducing two new watches: an 18k rose gold Cricket Anniversary Heart Automatic Calendar, and a Nautical Heritage Limited Edition that celebrates the 50th anniversary of a historical dive watch with mechanical alarm. Find details and prices inside.
For 2011 Vulcain presents the Anniversary Heart Automatic Calendar in a 42mm 18k rose gold case. The anthracite metallic sapphire dial provides a view of the 257-part Cricket Calibre V-22 from the manufacture in Le Locle. A cut-out reveals the date at 6 o’clock. This latest version of the Cricket alarm movement is equipped with two barrels: one to powers the timekeeping functions, and the other the alarm, which rings for a full 15-20 seconds. The escapement ticks at a classic 18,000 vibrations per hour. The unidirectional oscillating weight is fitted with a ceramic ball bearing mechanism, and the movement is visible through a sapphire caseback.

The Anniversary Heart Automatic Calendar in 18k rose gold is priced at $41,650.
In 1961, Vulcain presented one of the first diver’s watches with a mechanical alarm that was audible under water: the Nautical. The Nautical Heritage Limited Edition is a re-edition of that Vulcain diver’s watch, and it celebrates the 50th anniversary of the historical model. This faithful reproduction of the original is water resistant to 300 meters, equipped with the hand-wound Cricket V-10 alarm caliber. The triple case-back ensures optimal sound diffusion in water.
The re-edition is the same 42mm diameter as the original model. To facilitate reading off the stop times for each decompression stage, Vulcain has chosen to use two superimposed dials: a fixed lower dial topped by a second rotating dial adjustable by means of the screw-lock crown at 4 o’clock –and featuring a rectangular opening through which the diver can read off the stop times for the classic 9, 6 and 3 meter decompression phases, depending on the depth and the duration of the dive.
The Nautical Heritage will be issued in a limited edition of 1,961 pieces, priced at $6,475. Additional information appears at the end of this article.
