Parmigiani Sponsors 35th International Balloon Festival of Château-d’Oex Written byWatchTimeFebruary 15, 2013 Parmigiani participated in the recent 35th International Balloon Festival of Château-d’Oex as a sponsor for the nine-day-long hot air balloon festival in Switzerland. Nearly 30,000 festival-goers attended the annual event. Balloon flights were possible on five of the nine days, and almost 400 take-offs took place during the festival. Thanks to some favorable weather, a new record was set, with 105 flights in one day (the previous record was from 2006, with 101 flights). Among the balloons at the festival was an orange Parmigiani Fleurier-themed balloon. Other highlights included wingsuit jumps from the basket of a balloon and from a helicopter by extreme sports enthusiast Géraldine Fasnacht. On Children’s Day, nearly 300 kids had a chance to fly in a balloon for the first time. Balloon pilot Brian Jones presented a unique prototype balloon, designed to enable disabled people to carry out their pilot training. Plans are already underway for next year’s festival.
